These are just a few I think are fun.</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">First, I found some super cute and summery outdoor fabric on sale, so I decided to finally make some pillows for our glider. I went to DI and found some pillows for $2 and just covered 'em up! Here's a before and after picture, and what they look like on the glider. I just love the little splash of color on an otherwise very concrete/brick patio.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKXgKJrAUCiS-eFKc4N_0ho4ztWMB_wgbaHdT-VWSfivPg1MJvhcPwj8jK_ld3EmdwPlvrxBAK7ai_awdPqRR6jdEObHa72n64lR6Ac6Sfdm614_FonmHeellwMcfLdr1DWbBoHfatDPD2/s1600/IMG_0992.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKXgKJrAUCiS-eFKc4N_0ho4ztWMB_wgbaHdT-VWSfivPg1MJvhcPwj8jK_ld3EmdwPlvrxBAK7ai_awdPqRR6jdEObHa72n64lR6Ac6Sfdm614_FonmHeellwMcfLdr1DWbBoHfatDPD2/s320/IMG_0992.JPG" width="320" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7fN-0Z4ESqnRHyBFcW85frmkX59lKwHtChJsRpvSvrlTfRpEWC9Fy91Z4MnEojpSxJo32Uu5VIgQpnkokNXMG1rLIO2C-mefjKpZK-QpsywRyq1pRZGu8IP_Xnlqs2fu8oxMv0FbhQVnE/s1600/IMG_1883.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7fN-0Z4ESqnRHyBFcW85frmkX59lKwHtChJsRpvSvrlTfRpEWC9Fy91Z4MnEojpSxJo32Uu5VIgQpnkokNXMG1rLIO2C-mefjKpZK-QpsywRyq1pRZGu8IP_Xnlqs2fu8oxMv0FbhQVnE/s320/IMG_1883.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Next, I spruced up our kitchen! Shawn and I found these chairs out on a curb. They were being thrown away because a new little puppy decided the legs tasted good. But, luckily, when you young and poor, little cosmetic details like that don't bother you. So, we picked 'em up and gave them a makeover. After scrubbing them down, filling some holes with wood filler, and recovering them (all for less then $15), we have four beautiful sturdy kitchen chairs! Three sit at the table and the fourth we use as a computer desk chair<br />

So, once again, I found same fabric on sale for $.75 for 2 yards (awesome I know...I love Home Fabrics), and made a cover for it! I havne't put a slit on the top for the handle yet because I need to go buy orange thread. But, I think it's pretty cute!<br />

I am far behind the trend on these, but I needed magnets, so I might as well have cute ones. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPTSheNDF-MzBBi_dA3RR9PT7XXUsIP4W7z3LuRL0L908x3vJFnw0Xo4VGuu7OYWo8Vr7LcjQK5gHgY-6o5VFQt47tb_yC75Hpq-VH1OaMyLGaO6typtQWe25w_lU9fQAJhujyjpH5OXF9/s1600/DSC01295.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPTSheNDF-MzBBi_dA3RR9PT7XXUsIP4W7z3LuRL0L908x3vJFnw0Xo4VGuu7OYWo8Vr7LcjQK5gHgY-6o5VFQt47tb_yC75Hpq-VH1OaMyLGaO6typtQWe25w_lU9fQAJhujyjpH5OXF9/s400/DSC01295.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
My friend Deborah gave me the inspiration for these. Look how cute! The wreath is hanging on my office door. I am going to make three more balls and they are going to hang at different lengths on the office window.</div><br />

Just a verbal snap shot of life.</span></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">I am sitting here on my computer, having just finished cleaning the oven and listening to some conference talks. <br />
The CA is working in my office, and I am thinking about what I get to do tomorrow to celebrate my mid-week day off. Meanwhile, my husband is taking a nap in our room, even though it's 10:00 pm.<br />

<br />
These past few days he seems to be making up for the past 3 years of no rest by falling asleep around 7:00 pm, waking up at 10:00, and then back down by 10:30. Oh, but don't fret, the guy deserves every minute of that beautiful sleep. Until last week, he never stopped working. Literally....he never stopped working. Up at 6:30 for Marine Corp PT, shower at 8:00, out the door by 8:30. Class, homework, hand in an assignment, class, group work meeting, homework, quiz in class, 20 minutes for lunch, one more class. Work for 5 hours, 30 minutes for dinner if he can make it home by 7:00, stop by the store to pick up milk for his wife (that lucky girl happens to be me) more homework, listening to his wife talk about her day as if it were half as difficult as his, if he's really unlucky she'll then make him play a game of Sequence with him, and then maybe just maybe asleep by 12:00. He has amazed me one long day after another. That has always been Shawn's strength, being diligent, not afraid of working really hard. He does whatever it takes to achieve what he knows is good. Now that the craziness is on hold for a few weeks and he only has two classes and work, he is taking full advantage. This last week it has been a joy to see him literally devour the first book since his mission that he has read just for the pleasure of it.Wonder what book a future Marine Officer chooses to read?<br />

Way to go husband!</div></div>Laurie Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14884192245567791988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5299078660918889937.post-62197913672188355732010-05-05T13:46:00.009-06:002010-05-05T14:14:30.797-06:00the start of here...So this whole blog thing is a hard one to figure out. Honestly.<br />
<br />
I love reading blogs. All different kinds. I love reading the brand new bride's updates about her newly budding family. I love reading about someone's poetic take on the little moments in their day, where their words literally transport you to this magical view of the sparkles their child's laugh sends into a room. I love reading about the recipes and cuisine experiences that elate someone into their own little heaven. I love staring at the photographers pictures that literally do say a thousand words. I feel at home when I read about the believer's testimony of their God. <br />
<br />
All of these beautiful blogs that I follow seem to have their own identity. They have a theme, a purpose, their own little wave of feeling that their readers come to love and expect, like the mother wants to give updates on her families life. The photographer wants an audience for their extraordinary talents. The cook or baker loves to share their newest creation. The poet can't help but send their words out into the universe, touching hearts on their way. The crafty women needs to give every other crafty women another great project. The comic makes everyday life feel lighthearted and easy.<br />
<br />
But what about me? I know I want to share. Everyone's life is too beautiful and too unique not to share it with everyone. But who am I? Am I the poet, the photographer, the chef, the wife, the crafter, the believer? Which side of me do I want to portray to the world? After much thought, this is my answer to my own question.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">I am Laurie Noelle. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Noelle because I was born near Christmas.</div><div style="text-align: center;">The holiday that never fails to transport me to my own personal nirvana.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">I am the lover of anything gourmet, both the making of it and the eating of it.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I am the girl who could spend 30 minutes looking at one photograph, </div><div style="text-align: center;">trying to figure out what it is about capturing an experience in a single image makes that it look so special.</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I am all these things and more. </div><div style="text-align: center;">That is my identity. </div><div style="text-align: center;">This is Laurie.</div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">This is me.</div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/xx290/lsuhaka/24907_428019121832_728111832_514-2.jpg" /></div></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">And I can't wait to share who I am. </div>Laurie Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14884192245567791988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5299078660918889937.post-77323312488092113152009-04-02T19:35:00.006-06:002009-04-05T00:42:25.474-06:00Coldplay and TorchesSo I am sitting in the bottom floor of the Clyde building with Coldplay setting the mood in the background. Shawn is playing with a flame torch beside me and Jacob is standing on a table connecting flow control meters to the ceiling. Welcome to the rest of our life! Chemical Engineering! I am spending the evening with Shawn and with coworkers at his research lab. Although I have no idea what is going on around me, it's amazing to realize that this is going to be Shawn's life...playing with torches and acid and who knows what else. Watching him really inspires me. He loves what he does and seems to lose track of time, so focused on his task. It could almost be poetic if the task wasn't soldering stainless steel pipes together with 5000 degree (F) flame. But, even then, amongst my "Honey be careful!"'s and "You are going to kill yourself!"'s, I really love watching him work. I guess everyone has their own form of poetry. Sometimes its novels, music, accounting problems, or like to the love of my life, flow meters. Someday I hope to understand and be an active supporter of his work, but I guess for now I can just enjoy Coldplay, and watch him work his magic: both on the stainless steel rod he is heating up till it turns orange, and on me. I love you darling!Laurie Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14884192245567791988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5299078660918889937.post-29440407337402242242009-03-23T16:30:00.011-06:002009-03-23T16:46:25.968-06:00Engagement PicturesWe also got our engagement pictures taken while we were in Maryland! Honestly, I have been dreaming about my engagement pictures since I was old enough to appreciate all of the wedding invitations my Mom and Dad would get. This has been the most exciting thing for me so far! We were positively blessed to have an AMAZING photographer who was so generous with her time and her talents. I can't even express how grateful I am to her. She really did make all of the dreams I had about that experience come true! And thank you to Mom for orchestrating the whole thing.<br /><br />And I have to say thank you to Shawn. He wasn't only the most patient and supportive fiance in the entire world, but he looks like a model! :) I can't believe I get to marry this man! We were taking picture for three hours and never once was there a complaint. In fact, he was just as into it as I was! Sometimes I wonder if I really deserve him... I love you darling!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiMBDQR8j1kIaMd1hdHjCqZ-ldkyBYzMe3HtZ26b0kTw5Fzmd4zTCcrBkEAsv7DsO1skNYAU_ceEZzl5rsvPYhBdrCoi7-aCN1gPosNUciQzaa5675wcj1AT69g6QOK_EaMDmjczbSTj4f/s1600-h/image001.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; It was a dream! In fact, it went by so quickly that it still feels like a dream. I woke up this morning back in Provo apartment and felt like the whole thing had never happened! But it did, and it was wonderful!<br /><br />My mom has been a complete doll. She spent the last month putting together an engagement party for Shawn and me since we won't get a to have a reception in Maryland after the wedding. It was so good to have a chance to show Shawn off to all of my friends and the people and families I have looked up to my whole life. He was perfect....I fell ever more in love with him through the whole thing.<br /><br />Here are some pictures to share. The food was amazing...but of course we wouldn't expect anything less from Sylvia Suhaka. Thank you mom! The decorations were a adaptation of what they will be like at the wedding. My mom had the idea to have little card stands placed through out the house with little facts about Shawn and I and about Shawn's life since they don't know him yet. That was a hit! Shawn has recently decided to fill in the last few free minutes of his days (or just creating more minutes to use...somehow) by joining a research team On-Campus. He loves it and I am going to force him to post about it as soon as he decides to create more minutes. But until then, let me tell you about what he did with his research team on Tuesday night.
<br /></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:webdings;"><span style="font-size:100%;">So, he decided to take a little nap when he got home that night before delving back into his homework load. The time was about 6:15 and he was finally getting into his “unconscious” state, when his phone started vibrating. He sleeping answered, still a little unaware of whether it was his alarm or a phone call, until the voice on the other line started talking back. Ryan, one of his research colleagues, was apparently inviting him and his fiancé (that would be me) out to dinner. The research sponsors who are providing all of the funding for their project are in town this week from far away Denmark for meetings and to check on the progress of their investments. It is a well known fact that when sponsors come into town, you get treated to a night out on the town. Sadly, <span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(51, 51, 255);">oh so very very very sadly</span>, I was working that night. Shawn expressed that he was a little uneasy about going without me, especially since everyone else going along had a date. In fact, they offered to find him one. They thought a lowly freshman would fit the part perfectly. But, luckily for me, Shawn knew because of some prior experiences, and because…well…we’re engaged, so that probably wasn’t a good idea. He had no idea what to expect for the night, so when they started heading up Provo Canyon, he got a little suspicious. They ended up <a href="http://www.sundanceresort.com/dine/tree_room.html"> here</a> (click it).
<br /></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:webdings;"><span style="font-size:100%;">Yeah...I know. "The Tree Room" at Sundance Resort… Just read the opening paragraph and you’ll start to understand the bitterness in my voice. Let explain though, just so that you'll have the big picture. I happen to love food. The culinary arts (now notice I say art, because it is an <span style="font-weight: bold;">ART</span>) is my passion. Gourmet food markets and a well out-fitted kitchen would really be enough to make happy. Well, maybe a nice place setting to enjoy the deliciousness would be nice too, but you can’t have it all. It’s a little ironic really that one of my greatest wishes since Shawn and I met was to treat him to a top of the line dining experience and then hopefully have him understand better my love for cuisine. I just never thought he would have it without me...</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: webdings;"> So here’s what he ate.Four courses....(I'm really trying hard not to be bitter...)
<br /></p> <p style="font-family: webdings; color: rgb(102, 0, 0); text-align: center;" class="MsoNormal"><strong style="font-weight: bold;">Buffalo Carpaccio </strong>Pecorino Romano, Olive Oil, Fleur De Sel</p><div style="text-align: center; font-family: webdings;"> </div><p style="font-family: webdings; color: rgb(102, 0, 0); text-align: center;" class="MsoNormal"><strong>Soup Exploration </strong>Their soup of the day was (TBA)

They were there for 3 hours, and he loved every minute. I was a little jealous…okay, <span style="font-weight: bold;">A LOT</span> jealous, but he broke the news to me lightly by surprising me outside my work when I got off at 10:00 that night.He gave me a huge hug and had a suspiciously big smile on his face. I pestered him enough to quell his need for a good reaction and he finally spilled the news. Lucky for him, the surprise was good enough curb the <span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);font-family:verdana;" >ugly green monster</span> from over taking me. It was so fun to hear him talk about the food like it was from heaven and to hear all the funny conversations and things he learned about Denmark (ask him for stories on that one). Needless to say, it was night to remember. It’s not everyday a poor, soon to be poorer, college student gets taken out to a $100 a head restaurant at one of the most famous resorts in the country now is it. Yay for fun memories that we will never be able to afford to make ourselves.
<br /></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style=";font-family:times new roman;font-size:100%;" >P.S. To Shawn's credit, he was sure to tell me that he was thinking of me through out the entire meal and wishing I was there to experience it with him... I love you honey....and I wish I had been there too. </span>

It was been exactly 25 days since we created this sight, and 25 days since we have posted on it. I’m hoping that the habit will start forming now, and that we can work up to a post every 7 days, rather than 25. :)<br /><br />Well, at least the long hiatus means there is much to tell! We finally have the wedding planned! OK, well, maybe not all the way planned, but at least the scaffolding is up! My Mom and I have been trying to plan the wedding day celebrations since Shawn and got engaged over 2 months ago, and we changed our minds so many times that Shawn almost started counting. With every new “Ok, Honey, this is it this time. Our final decision!” he would just roll his eyes a little and listen intently as I told him all the reasons why our current idea was going to work out best. Then he would patiently let me repeat the process again, 4 days later, after everything completely changed, and then again 5 days later, etc. But my wonderful extraordinary mother, discovered our niche! <a href="http://www.thecanterburyplace.com/">Canterbury Place!</a> We put down our deposit on Monday, and I can finally breathe easy! But before I go on, I need to say thank you again to my Mommy. I have been swamped working 40 hours a week, full time school, and still trying to spend at least 45 minutes a day with the man I love, and so she is doing all of the hard work! Last week end she spent all Saturday putting together lists of options. After hours of searching and calling sweet voiced wedding coordinators and reception centers, park services, rental companies, she called me that night and laid out the top three with prices, locations, amenities, menus; everything I would need to make a decision. I choose an option, made a call, and waa-laa! <strong>So thank you Mom</strong>! This wedding is going to be wonderful because of you!<br /><br />So everyone can write April 24 in their calendars. The sealing is at 11:30 in the Bountiful Utah Temple, and the Luncheon is from 1-3pm that afternoon at Canterbury Place in Bountiful. We are not going to have a reception in Utah or Maryland. We thought an intimate wedding luncheon with family and friends would fit perfectly with our circumstances. Afterwards Shawn and I will drive into the sunset to Park City for the weekend. Sadly, I have to be back to work bright and early Monday (I’m pressing for Tuesday) because we have Women’s Conference that week. The next 4 days will be the busiest and craziest of the year for our office, besides maybe Education Week. So that will be a fun dynamic for the first week of married life!! Shawn will either delve into Spring semester with math and engineering classes or start working full time (we have yet to decide on that one).<br /><br />The good news is we have a place to live! They are usually men’s housing, but lucky for us, they rent out five to six apartments every spring/summer for <em>extremely reasonable</em> prices. It’s a block away from campus, and it usually fits six guys, so needless to say, there is plenty of space for our “starter apartment.” We are more than excited and sincerely feel like the Lord blessed us with exactly what we needed.<br /><br />Well, that’s all the news for now. The Utah Bridal Shower and Maryland Engagement Party are coming up in March (thank you Jessica and Mom!) Shawn and I are so excited for all of the celebrations, but especially for being able to walk out of the temple holding hands, ready to embark on our new life together (possibly dripping with corniness, but you can’t help how you feel!)<br /><br />So tune in next time for updates, and maybe I’ll finally give a little overview of how he proposed!Laurie Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14884192245567791988noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5299078660918889937.post-20068456203605161002009-02-01T15:20:00.003-07:002009-02-01T15:32:54.997-07:00The beggining....Shawn and Laurie have officially stepped into the world of blogging! We look forward to keeping our family and friends up-to-date on all of the blithesome happenings and non-deserved blessings that are over flowing in our lives. We are hoping to brighten a day, bring on a smile, and overall, just spread a little bit of our joy! So come visit often, and don't forget that we love you!Laurie Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14884192245567791988noreply@blogger.com0
